It’s been a year since Only (Fans) Fund$ debuted, and I’m still buzzing from seeing it in paperback through Alien Buddha Press. As a lover of the moon, stars, sun, and planets, I find a special rhythm in aligning my book releases with the moon phases—a touch of astronomy, astrology, and that “method to my madness.” New Moons represent a fresh start, perfect for launching new projects, while Full Moons are all about closure. So, when it comes to release dates, I choose either the exact day of a New or Full Moon, or the day around it. This timing isn’t just a detail; it’s woven into the very fabric of my work.
Full Moons & New Moons: A Writer’s Ritual
My book Animals on a Carousel, for example, is something of a love spell—a personal offering to My Gorilla and what we share—and there was no better moment than a Full Moon to release it. Each release has a story with its lunar timing, whether it’s launching under a New Moon to invite fresh energy or letting the magic of a Full Moon close out the cycle. If you’re curious, here’s a peek at some of these dates I’ve chosen and the phases that influenced them:
