A Psychological Horror Chapbook About Voyeurism, Access, and Control
I overthink. A lot.
Sometimes that overthinking rocket ships into something grand and beautiful. Other times, it turns quietly sinister. I am still not entirely sure which category this book falls into.
The original thought came to me in passing, the way the most unsettling ideas often do. What if an Airbnb owner inconspicuously lived inside the home they host while guests were there? Not to intervene. Not to participate. Simply to observe.
That is when voyeurism invaded my mind.
About As a Courtesy…
As a Courtesy… is a psychological horror chapbook about access, permission, and the illusion of privacy.
It follows Malcolm, a meticulous homeowner who believes control comes from seeing without ever being seen. Every room is curated. Every guest is logged. Every detail accounted for. Or so he tells himself.
What begins as quiet surveillance slowly fractures into obsession, entitlement, and harm. Because the most dangerous people are not the ones who hide. They are the ones who invite you in.
Although this book is short, it demanded more from me than many longer projects.
I am not, dare I say it, a narcissistic sociopath. Writing from that mindset required an uncomfortable level of mental contortion. To think like someone who believes their behavior is justified, even benevolent, while crossing every ethical boundary was exhausting.
I started writing As a Courtesy… in 2024. Partway through, I had to stop. I took a genuine mental break from it. Living in Malcolm’s head was not something I could do continuously or casually.
It was only about two months ago that I revisited what I had written, read it with fresh eyes, and finished the book.
This is not a story that relies on gore or shock. It is restrained, psychological, and deliberately unsettling. The horror lives in proximity, politeness, and the quiet erosion of consent. It is meant to linger after the final page.

Kindle, Paperback, Kindle Unlimited
As a Courtesy… will be available in Kindle, paperback, and Kindle Unlimited.
For the first second time, I am releasing a title outside my usual New Moon schedule.
The book arrives during March’s Full Worm Moon, which also happens to be a Total Lunar Eclipse, often referred to as the Blood Moon Eclipse. According to Google, Blood Moon Eclipse themes include releasing perfectionism, confronting the need to get life right, focusing on practicality and daily routines, and reclaiming genuine self expression.
Fitting for As a Courtesy…? You be the judge.
This book is quiet. It watches. It waits.
And it asks a question that feels increasingly relevant.
How much of our lives do we give away simply by opening the door?
The Kindle edition of As a Courtesy… is available for preorder now. Paperback and Kindle Unlimited editions will follow at release.

📖 Paperback goes live March 3rd (Blood Moon Eclipse)
Release updates and additional details will be shared here as the launch approaches.
As always, thank you for reading.
