How This Series Came Together

Sometimes a project leaves a residue.
A mood. A question. A desire to keep going, but sideways.

This series began as a spin-off from my ongoing visual poetry project, This Is What Remains… a body of work rooted in memory, fragments, and what’s left behind after meaning shifts. I wanted to loosen my grip on intention and let other people step into the frame with me, so I posted a simple request on social media: send me a selfie if you want to be part of my next project.

I didn’t explain the concept. I didn’t give rules. I told them they’d find out when it appeared on Instagram and X.

Adult Valentine Cards, Reimagined

What emerged was a series of adult Valentine’s Day cards—sharp one-liners dressed up as something familiar. Think back to elementary school: construction paper, punch-out hearts, sugar highs, and awkward sincerity passed desk to desk on February 14th. I wanted to take that ritual and age it up. Strip the sweetness. Keep the honesty.

Each submission became a collaboration. I edited their image, paired it with a line and let the card say what it needed to say.

This isn’t romance in the traditional sense.

A spontaneous idea turned into a fun, unexpected project. Thank you to everyone who trusted me with their image.

If you want to be a part of what comes next, follow me on Instagram or X. I’ll let you know when it’s time.
