Writing Workshop in Upland, CA: Write Your First Book with Baroque Medusa

I’m excited to officially announce my upcoming 3-part writing workshop series at The Healing Shoppe in Upland, California.

Beginning July 11, 2026, I’ll be hosting a guided creative writing and self-publishing workshop for aspiring writers, poets, creatives, memoir writers, and anyone carrying a story or book idea they haven’t yet known how to begin.

Workshop Dates:
• Class 1 — July 11, 2026
• Class 2 — August 8, 2026
• Class 3 — September 12, 2026

This workshop means a lot to me personally because The Healing Shoppe has been part of my own publishing journey for quite some time. The store has carried my book, My Vibe is RICH AF, a Law of Assumption graphic zine focused on mindset, manifestation, identity, and visual storytelling. In October 2025, I also hosted a book signing there, which made this collaboration feel even more aligned and full circle.

For those unfamiliar with my work, I publish under the name Baroque Medusa through Baroque Medusa Media. My background includes poetry, visual storytelling, digital publishing, creative branding, and self-publishing. Over the years, I’ve learned firsthand how intimidating it can feel to begin writing — especially when you think you need to have everything figured out before you start.

You don’t.

That’s one of the biggest reasons I created this workshop.

A Writing Workshop for Beginners, Aspiring Authors & Creatives

This is not a traditional academic writing course.

This workshop is not about perfection, grammar policing, or trying to sound “like a writer.” It’s about momentum, identity, creative confidence, and learning how to finally begin.

So many people want to write a book, start poetry, tell their story, publish a memoir, or explore fiction, but they get trapped in overthinking before they ever start typing the first sentence.

What We’ll Cover During the 3-Part Workshop Series

This 3-part writing workshop series is structured to guide attendees from idea to execution in a supportive and approachable way.

Class 1 focuses on removing fear, overthinking, and perfectionism so attendees can begin writing consistently. We’ll discuss identity, momentum, creative freedom, and why messy beginnings are often the most important ones.

We’ll also complete an in-class writing session together using guided prompts and creative exercises. The goal is not perfection. The goal is simply to write.

Class 2 focuses on review, refinement, creative direction, and publishing paths. We’ll discuss themes, structure, voice, self-publishing options, ebook creation, paperback formatting, pen names, and how to begin understanding what you are actually creating.

Class 3 moves into execution and publishing. We’ll discuss Amazon KDP, manuscript formatting, ebook conversion, visual identity, book covers, launch strategies, and how to realistically move your writing into published form without overwhelming yourself in the process.

This workshop is intentionally designed to support both complete beginners and writers who may already have unfinished projects sitting on their laptop, phone notes, or journals.

Why I Decided to Teach This Workshop

Baroque Medusa originally began as a creative identity and website during the 2020 lockdown. At the time, I was writing poetry, short-form work, and experimenting creatively online without fully understanding where it would eventually lead.

Over time, that creative outlet evolved into publishing.

I eventually pursued independent publishing opportunities and quickly realized how little transparency and guidance many writers actually receive when trying to bring their work into the world. That experience pushed me toward learning the publishing process myself. From writing and formatting to branding, covers, ebooks, and hardcover/paperback production.

That learning curve changed my life.

It also made me realize how many people have stories, ideas, poems, essays, concepts, and unfinished manuscripts sitting inside them simply because they feel intimidated by the process.

I want this workshop to make writing feel accessible.

Not perfect.
Not elite.
Not reserved for people who already think of themselves as writers.

Writing anything counts.

Accessible.

Because writing becomes far less intimidating once you stop trying to “be a writer” and simply allow yourself to write consistently.
