Eight of Moons: Mother Moon Knows Things
I couldn’t get enough of June’s Strawberry full moon.
The photograph I took that night first appeared in the Monarch Duet pieces, Monarch Eclipse and Monarch Vulvaris, but Mother Moon clearly wasn’t finished with me. For Eight of Moons, I returned to the same photograph and reworked it, placing it into an entirely new composition.

The Moon Is Your Magic 8 Ball
If you don’t know me, Baroque Medusa, I’m not only a writer, publisher, and artist. I’m also a devout worshipper of the moon.
I follow the moon cycles and believe Mother Moon reveals, shares wisdom, and listens when you make yourself available to her. That belief became the idea behind Eight of Moons.

Ask the question.
Pay attention to what is revealed.
The remaining elements came from ordinary encounters. I photographed the tree while walking along the San Gabriel River trail. The mannequin and its wonderfully strange placement of hands came from browsing a local thrift shop.

Together, these unrelated photographs became something ritualistic, surreal, and a little playful. A moon becomes an oracle. Mannequin hands wait beneath it. A familiar tree becomes something spectral.
